Setup/Enable Real Debrid in Krypton

Due to the increase in popularity of Real Debrid Accounts, more and more Developers are coding their Add-ons to Enable this feature. But what is Real Debrid and what can it do for me you ask? Well I would suggest you read this excellent blog on the topic, it changed my mind after reading it. Click here.  If you are interested in acquiring an account, please use this link for Real Debrid. It’s recommended to establish an account prior to continuing.

Where to start ?

There are many Blogs and articles on the Internet about how to enable RD, but for a change this one will be about how to Enable RD in Krypton 18, Leia. While still in Alpha build, there are some interesting new features to view. But I would recommend waiting until Leia has been released in Beta before installing and trying to use. This was installed on a PC, W/10 for the ease of creating the screenshots needed. So lets begin :

enable

After opening Kodi Krypton 17 / Leia 18, select the Cog Icon located at the top left corner of the Home page.

enable

While this page may look the same as the Krypton series of Kodi, there is a slight difference with Leia as you can see in the Photo. So to continue, find and select System.

The Setup

enable

For the initial setup, there are a few steps to take before proceeding :
  1. In the bottom left corner, the “Mode” will/may be set to Standard, to change to Expert, scroll down and click in the area indicated (1.) above.

  2. Select Add-ons. (2.)

  3. Move the cursor to the right and if Unknown sources has not been enabled previously, click to change. A new window will appear confirming the change, select YES. (3.)

  4. Click on Manage dependencies for the next step. (4.)

enable

Next page will show the Dependencies, scroll down to the bottom and select URL Resolver.

enable

Your next step will be selecting Configure to enable Real Debrid.

Now to Enable

enable

These next steps will show you how to Enable Real Debrid in Kodi Krypton/Leia.
  1. After selecting Configure, move the Cursor over Universal Resolvers as indicated by #1.

  2. At this point you will need to find “Real-Debrid”. Scroll down to almost the bottom and when found, click on Priority to change the number shown from 100 to 90.

enable

A numerical keypad will appear. To change the number, do the following :
  1. Click on Backspace 3 times to remove 100. (1.)

  2. To enter the the number 90, use the cursor and click on 9 + 0. (2.)

  3. Click on Done to complete the process. (3.)

  4. As a result of selecting Done, you will return to the previous page. You must click OK  to continue, failure to do so will result in all the work done to this point as Incomplete. The process will then have to be repeated again.

enable

Consequently, after selecting OK, you will be back at the Configure Add-on page. To continue, simply select Configure one more time. Return to the Universal Resolvers portion and scroll down to (Re)Authorize My Account and click. Take note that the number shown in Priority is now showing 90. If you do not see this number, repeat the previous steps and remember to click on OK.

The Confirmation

enable

So, after selecting ReAuthorize My Account, a window will appear showing you a Seven (7) Digit Code that must be entered in the url address provided. It’s most noteworthy to have an account with Real Debrid prior to beginning the Enable process. If you have not done so, click here to open an account. Fees will apply.

Hint : Have the link to enter the code ready to go before continuing. There is a time limit and once this reaches 0, you must start again. You can have the link entered on your Mobile Phone, PC, Laptop,Tablet or any device that allows you access to the internet.

enable

The Photo above is the Real Debrid device confirmation page. Simply enter the Seven (7) digit code provided and select Continue. The process is almost instantaneous, so don’t blink !

enable

Finally, a Confirmation Notification will appear in the top right corner. Congratulations, Real Debrid is now enabled in Kodi Krypton/Leia.

TV Addons - Crypto Mining Hack

If you have been using Kodi third party addons for any length of time, you cannot have missed the controversy that always seems to surround TV Addons and the antics of its owner, Adam Lackman.  In recent history there have been a number of high profile  repo “hacks” and if you think back a little further, there was the DDOS hidden in the popular Exodus add-on. TV Addons Hack & Virus History Exodus DDOS “bot” So if you dont recall TV Addons hugely popualr Exodus add-on had some code added to it to DDOS attack. This was in response to a clone or fork of the addon that TVA took exception against. This seems rather bizarre given the amount of forks that are flying around now! Here is a link to that article. Exodus Botnet We did remove a lot of the post – but heres some links showing the code and how it was added; Exodus DDOS code Target of DDOS TVA & Indigo Repo Hijacks So lets review the repo hijacks – hotly denied, but who else has a v...

Ares Wizard - Retro Gaming

The Ares Wizard has had a few upgrades to bring more of what users demand, easy android installs and retro gaming being sought by many, so grab yourself a game controller and prepare to transform your android boxes in a few clicks, retro gaming is now on the Ares Wizard! Archive Logins Just before we delve into those updates, I also wanted to point out that Mr Dobson has figured out how to log into Archive via Kodi – this may make your eyes glaze over, so I’ll be brief; the high demand builds hosted on Archive recently hit a problem, where Archive forced logins to download – normally something of a bind from android boxes. Well if you create any account (even if you don’t actually use it) this login can be entered and this allows downloads from Archive – Ares is the ONLY Wizard to be able to do this. (take note Ares does NOT store this info, so you will have to key it in each time you are prompted to do so) Android Apps A few additional apps have been added...

Kodi Advanced Settings Pt 2

This is the second part of The Advanced Settings XML article, in this follow up post I want to cover a few extra items. Skip Loop Filter Package Folder SIze Remote Delay Remote Repeat Specifcally the first is for Amazons Firestick and reduces the overhead on the GPU by removing some “unseen” frames from the video stream. Skip Loop Filter Click Programs Click Easy Advanced Settings Click Edit Settings Click Audio/video playback settings Click Skiploopfilter Click 8 You can back up to the twice and hit Write XML file Package Folder Size You’ll hear this a lot “purge packages”; so lets explain, packages are the zips Kodi downloads to install your add-ons. Kodi keeps them in case you want to roll back from an upgrade. However, they mostly just use up storage space. They have no connection to buffering, nor speed, nor performance, another often touted myth! We can remove the need to do this monthly clean up by simply setting a fixed size for the fo...

Your Best Kodi Build: What should I download?

Your Best Build You may be just starting out on your kodi journey, or maybe grabbed a new device, could be an update but everyone has the same question. You are dying to ask the question and the temptation is killing you.  What’s your best build? What should I download? Finding yourself wanting to fit in and have the “best build” is a problem that faces too many.  Anyone who has spent any time in the community knows this is the most asked question. Once this question has been asked it is like a can of worms being opened. Then will follow random comments naming numerous builds all claiming they have the best one. These will be a mixture of what the person commenting uses and builders trying to promote themselves. After all these random people telling you what you should like, you will find yourself no better than  you were to start.  In some cases you could be more confused. I am too familiar with how it feels to be a newcomer to the Kodi World. Free str...

WiFi Settings & Tweaks

I thought I’d cover the one of the most talked about issues in the world of streaming and thats WiFi and how to get the best out of it, practical measures and not some of the voodoo you read on some forums! What is WIFi? The term Wi-Fi refers specifically to the IEEE 802.11 set of standards for wireless networks. Several different standards are designated by a letter suffix on the 802.11, such as in 802.11g or 802.11n. In general all of the 802.11 standards operate on either a 2.4GHz or 5GHz radio frequency. 5GHz has much greater speed capability but a reduced range; generally speaking the lower a frequency the further it will travel, so don’t expect miracles if you switch to 5GHz. A key thing to note here is that if ANY device uses the older “b” standard then ALL devices *could* have their speed reduced to 11mbps on “g” networks, depending on your router. This really applies to older equipment or cheap equipment with old parts used in it *cough* t...
