How to Install a Source in Krypton via File Manager

Installing a Source, can be difficult at the best of times for those that are new to Kodi. In addition to being new this community, many people just don’t understand the language used in help groups found in Social media. Trying to explain the method and where to start ends up being frustrating to both parties if not explained correctly. Sometimes a Picture Really Is Worth a Thousand Words.

What is a Source ?

In our effort to help those who are new to the Kodi Community, this blog will hopefully take some of the sting out of understanding how Kodi works as well as for those who like to help new members to their group.  A video source is a kind of media source. Media sources are the links that tell Kodi where your content is stored and what type of content is contained within each one. You can have multiple-sources for each media type. You can use local media, file shares, removable USB drives, etc.

How to Install a Source

source

Step 1. – After opening Kodi Krypton, look for the Cog Icon located in the Top Left corner (see opening photo) Once selected, you will then see a list of options found in System. Locate and click on File manager.

Step 2. – The next page will be the File Manager. So to continue with adding a Source you must double Click or Tap in the area labelled “Add Source”. File Manager is where all your xml sources are stored. When using the Ares Wizard and want to do a Fresh Start, one of the options asked is Save Sources. This is what it refers to.

Where to add Source

Step 3. – As shown above, a new screen will appear where you will enter the Source URL. To continue, Click/Tap once to open the built-in Keyboard.

source

Step 4. – For this Blog, the Blamo Repo was randomly chosen. Using the built-in keyboard or if you have a wireless or are using a device with one enabled/installed (PC, Laptop) enter this Exactly for the Blamo Repository : http://blamo.teverz.com and click on OK to continue.

source

Step 5. – Immediately after selecting OK, you will see the next step as indicated by the example above.  A new bar will be highlighted, click/tap anywhere in that area to enable the keyboard again and enter Blamo. Select OK.

source

Step 6. – return to the main Home page of Kodi and select Add-ons.

Step 7. – You have now opened the Add-ons/ Add-ons Browser. To continue, select Install from zip file. Other Options available are:
  • My Add-ons, where all the different Add-ons installed are easily located.

  • Install from repository, will touch on this shortly.

  • Install from zip file, what we are showing now.

  • Search, does exactly as stated. Search for an Add-on.

Step 8. – A new Window will appear and will show you where you have stored the file you named Blamo. All sources you add will appear here with the name you attached to it as in Step 5. Click on the Blamo to continue.

Installing the New Source

Step 10. – At this point you will be returned to the Add-on Browser page. Please wait for the Confirmation Notification to appear before continuing. Normally shown in the top right corner, this may take as little as a few seconds to as long as over 45 seconds. This is determined on the complexity of the repository itself as well as how fast an Internet Service you have.

source

Step 11. – To open the repo, select Install from repository. In addition to seeing the most recent repo installed, you will also see all the others that have been installed. Because this is a clean version of Kodi there are only two repos installed. The one that comes with Kodi and of course the Blamo repo. Click on Blamo Repo to continue.

source

Step 12. – Typically, ninety % of all repositories will have this configuration as shown here. Depending on what the Dev has added to his repo will determine what you able to install, some have only Video / Program add-ons. While others not unlike this one have the full scope of add-ons. So for this example, to see what is available, select Video add-ons.

Content and How to Install

source

Step 14.- Since many Devs have more than on Video Add-on, they tend to keep them all together in one repo which makes it easier to install. For this example and due to it’s recent popularity, we’ll continue with Placenta. To do that, just click on Placenta.

source

Step 15. – Select Install.

source

Step 16. – In addition to returning back to the Video Add-ons page, you will see a series of notifications stating there are updates available for this Add-on, these are needed to operate properly. This will be done automatically and may take a minute or so to complete. Be patient and wait for the process to finish. Select the Add-on to open.

source

Step 17. – Finally ! Placenta is now installed and ready to use, click on Open to continue. However, this is a great time to Configure the Add-on to your preferences. Real Debrid, API key Code, and Alluc API Code, should be entered now if you have any of those 3.

In Conclusion

We take great pride and effort in the Ares Project Forum in helping both those who are new and seasoned users of Kodi. Kodi Dlna Client and Server Setup for Krypton

What is Dlna ? WHAT IS DLNA? The term DLNA stands for “Digital Living Network Alliance”. It is the industry standard for sharing network data combined with “Universal Plug and Play Audio Visual(UPnP). This option can be used to share your media libraries from one device to another. If you have a PC or Kodi Box for your Tv, you can share its media contents.  Other Smart TVs, Game Consoles, Phones, etc. to name a few. It is recommended that you backup Kodi before continuing in case you wish to restore your Kodi settings at a later date. A Kodi UPnP server/media can stream its content to other devices on the same network by using UPnP and DLNA protocols. HOW TO ENABLE DLNA ON KODI? For this article, I used a clean version of Krypton 17.6. If you are using a Build, this is typically found by selecting System, then System again. Lets begin: After opening Kodi, select the Cog Icon found in the top left corner. Then Select Service Settings top row far right in Systems as shown in the ph

Using TMDb and Alluc API Codes in Kodi Add-ons

Using TMDb / Alluc Codes Together Before explaining how to link your TMDb api code with Alluc code, why does anyone need the code ? When the Add-on Elysium became the “go to” add-on as an alternative to Covenant, the Devs added the api Code. Consequently TMDb began cancelling each new api code generated by the Developers as it was viewed as “abuse of the code”.  As a result the Developers spent more time generating a new code instead of improving the add-on itself. The Solution was to allow each user to generate their own personal IMDb Api code and enter it themselves. Generating your own TMDb Code While other groups were providing a solution, Ares Project Forum had taken it a step further by providing a Blog that gave a more detailed method that others had missed. In addition to generating a TMDb code, you will also need a Alluc code. This can be found by following this link . Add-ons Currently Utilizing both Codes The above list will be updated as each new Add-on allows the use of

Project Cypher

This is an add on thats been around for a while, with a mix of content, mostly that I haven’t used to be honest, but its recently started to produce some good live streams with I think makes it worthy of recommending. I worked through some of the content this morning and there is a mix of stuff, but of real interest to me personally is the quality of the live links. The other content such as Lingerie Football and Lingerie Fighting is unique to the add on (AFAIK), plus there plenty of horror under the “dark side” link and Serial Killer content too, should that be your thing. Installing Project Cypher Click File Manager Double Click Add source Type this EXACTLY http://repo.run/cypherrepo/ Name the source, Project Cypher Return to the Kodi Home Screen Click System Click Add ons Click install from zip file Click Project Cypher Source Click Project Cypher zip file Wait for “add on enabled” notification Project Cypher Content The long list of live sports links are hidden the test area,
