How to Add Your Personal Music Files in Krypton

Music Files in Krypton

Add-ons that have Music/Radio are growing at a rapid pace. Unfortunately, sometimes the selections available are not quite everyone’s “cup of tea”. I’m a firm believer that Music makes The World Go Around. But sometimes I just wish I could listen to what makes “My world go around”. We all have a large selection of Music Files these days, so why not make them available to play on your version of Kodi Krypton and Forks of Krypton.

WHAT TOOLS DO I NEED

  • A USB flash drive or a External Hard Drive.

  • Access to your personal files (if on a PC or Laptop)

  • Device that has a USB slot or SD Card

  • Download Manager , ES File Explorer as an example.

I happened to use my PC due to it being easier to create the Photos needed for this article. How you decide to move your files will be up to you, use what ever option you feel the most comfortable with. Adding them to Kodi Krypton will remain the same.

Setting up and Installing Music in Krypton

After opening  Kodi Krypton, select Music.

The next screen you will see Photo A, will prompt you what type of Music ? Please select Files. After selecting File the next page, Photo B, has but one option Add Music. Select to continue.

Adding Your Music Files

Now while this looks complicated, it really isn’t, just a few clicks is all we need to do here. To prevent any delays, have the source of your Music files connected to the device.
  1. Photo A- Select Browse, Kodi will now search for the location.

  2. Photo B- As I explained earlier, I used my PC  in addition having a portion of my Music collection on a Ext.HD. Consequently it now appears as E:(New Volume), yours may not appear as the same. Select the location and click OK.

  3. Photo C-  A new pop up will appear indicating the contents of the location. As a result of the search E:(My Music/My List) was found. Rather than renaming it, I left mine as Music List, you may call yours anything you wish to. Select OK when done.

  4. Photo D- Confirm the prompt to continue by selecting Yes.

As soon as you select Yes from Step 4, the install process will begin. Notice the Progress Indicator in the top right corner. If you have more than 1 File in the same location, selecting “Add music” allow you to install at the same time without interruption. Once completed, exit back to the home page and either hover the cursor over Music or click it to see more detail.

Viewing Your Music

So now that you have your Files installed, to see how the list is arranged, I selected Songs. Above is just a small portion of what I like to listen to. Some of you from Canada may recognize one of the groups listed. Most noteworthy, all songs are listed in alphabetical order.

IN CONCLUSION

If your device (Box or Shield) is connected to a Home Theater System and then to your TV, this is another way to wake up the neighb….err… to enjoy your personal Music Files via Kodi. In addition to playing Movies and TV Shows on Kodi, this article has hopefully shown you what else Krypton has to offer. Stay tuned for 1 more Krypton secret to be unveiled soon. Click Here: Kodi Add-on by SkyDarks

Click Here is one of the newest Fork and it has a very clever name.  Invoking you to just “click here” to get all the movies and tv shows you could ever want.  This add-on doesn’t have any of the “extras” that some of the other forks have; however, it does work nicely.  Click Here has all the sames features you enjoyed in Covenant including the ability to add Trakt and Debrid accounts.  I like that the developer Swiper kept it close to the original and just changed up some artwork. Click Here: Current version of this addon is 1.0 This add on is “unofficial” and therefore not supported by Kodi Tv or XMBC foundations, please do not ask on their forums for help. You can unblock many “dns censored” sources with a smartdns solution  If you use p2p add ons, torrents, or in countries that prohibit streaming use a vpn from a reputable provider like Private Internet Access . How to Install Every Repo

The key thing to adding content to Kodi is via repositories – a “repo” is the “central storage point” for an authors add ons. Add-ons provide you with content, so you will see someone reference say Genesis and Lambda – Lambda is the author and has his repository, and Genesis is the add on held in that repo for you to install. A repo can have multiple add ons. These add ons are grouped as Program, Video, etc. I hope that’s simple enough – that’s my fifth version, if you have a simpler way to explain, please comment below and I’ll add it in! Repository Addresses Every repo has a url, an address (or source) you need to add into Kodi’s File Manager in order to install the repo into your Kodi locally. I have created a list of the most popular (I hope!) although this isn’t meant to be every repo every created. I am providing a list here of the repo’s rather than write 150 articles for each individual. This will also...

WiFi Settings & Tweaks for Kodi

I thought I’d cover the one of the most talked about issues in the world of streaming and thats WiFi and how to get the best out of it, practical measures and not some of the voodoo you read on some forums! What is WIFi? The term Wi-Fi refers specifically to the IEEE 802.11 set of standards for wireless networks. Several different standards are designated by a letter suffix on the 802.11, such as in 802.11g or 802.11n. In general all of the 802.11 standards operate on either a 2.4GHz or 5GHz radio frequency. 5GHz has much greater speed capability but a reduced range; generally speaking the lower a frequency the further it will travel, so don’t expect miracles if you switch to 5GHz. A key thing to note here is that if ANY device uses the older “b” standard then ALL devices *could* have their speed reduced to 11mbps on “g” networks, depending on your router. This really applies to older equipment or cheap equipment with old parts used in it *cough* t...

How to Stream Zgemma to Kodi

If you have one of zgemma or Vu (enigma based) device you may not be aware that you can access and control your device from Kodi. This is pretty simple and quick to setup and will open up a whole bunch of options for you eg. watch your recordings on any device with Kodi (on the same network), set recordings on your receiver from any device running Kodi on your home network ( this can also be dome remotely and I will cover this in another blog), check on what recordings are set and even delete them if needed. There is a bit of jumping around in this tutorial as I have to cover a few different scenarios, I hope this doesn’t make it confusing, but feel free to leave comments. I will have a section created on Ares Forum for more support if its needed. Setup Process Set Fixed IP on zGemma Check OpenWebIf is installed and set correctly. Make a Custom Favourites List (optional) Add PVR to Kodi Configure PVR Receiver Setup The first step is to give the receiver device a fixed IP address, ...

Kodi Advanced Settings Pt 2

This is the second part of The Advanced Settings XML article, in this follow up post I want to cover a few extra items. Skip Loop Filter Package Folder SIze Remote Delay Remote Repeat Specifcally the first is for Amazons Firestick and reduces the overhead on the GPU by removing some “unseen” frames from the video stream. Skip Loop Filter Click Programs Click Easy Advanced Settings Click Edit Settings Click Audio/video playback settings Click Skiploopfilter Click 8 You can back up to the twice and hit Write XML file Package Folder Size You’ll hear this a lot “purge packages”; so lets explain, packages are the zips Kodi downloads to install your add-ons. Kodi keeps them in case you want to roll back from an upgrade. However, they mostly just use up storage space. They have no connection to buffering, nor speed, nor performance, another often touted myth! We can remove the need to do this monthly clean up by simply setting a fixed size for the fo...
