What is the cause of your devices issues?

The cause of your devices current issues is that the Android Operating System has recently started pushing out Software updates for various devices. This also means that that Android App Store (Google Playstore)  was updated your and Android Services (Google Play services)will need to be updated so that it can keep everything in sync and running smoothly.

For Android Mobile Phones that have received a Major Software Update

For Android Smartphones you may want to take one more step to ensure that everything has updated.

As Android Smart phones have extra functions on top of running Apps they can still have a few nagging issues. These are due to some of the other device services also needing to be forced to update so they can run on the new version of software.

The Best way to optimise your device after updates to help it run smoothly is to enter recovery mode on your device and wipe the cache partition of your device then Reboot device.

Why does the device need to be in recovery mode?

Android recovery mode allows you to boot Android devices into a dedicated recovery console for performing advanced recovery and maintenance tasks. You will find all the device specific instructions for Most Major Devices this  Guide to entering Recovery mode on Major devices

What is Android Recovery Mode

The Android Recovery Mode is a lightweight program that sits in an alternate bootable partition. This recovery mode is separate from the main Android OS. Android Recovery Mode purpose is to provide special tools for running maintenance and troubleshooting.

Accessing recovery mode is not an everyday affair and this mode is only meant to be used when you have the need to perform certain tasks on the device.  Some of these tasks include installing OS updates, apps from the computer or an SD card, and clearing cached files. The recovery mode can also be used for factory resetting Android when the issue proves to be difficult to troubleshoot.

Recovery Mode Options

Once you boot your device into recovery mode, you will have a range of options to choose from. These options may vary a bit depending on the device but they generally include the following.

  • Reboot now:   Choose this option to restart the device in normal mode.

  • Apply update from ADB:   This option is mostly used by Android developers who can use the Android Debug Bridge to plug an Android device into a PC and run commands from there.

  • Wipe data/factory reset:  Choosing this option will wipe out all data on your device including photos, music, apps, and practically everything, so make sure that you backup your Android device before going with this option.

  • Wipe cache partition:   The cache stores temporary files that can be safely deleted without losing any personal data or settings.

  • Reboot bootloader:   Used to root your device.

  • Power down:   Shuts down the device.

  • View Recovery logs.

Once your device is in recovery mode you will only need 2 of these options.

1)You will scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition > Click on it and confirm you want to do it.

2)Then Scroll back up to> Reboot device > Click on it and confirm.

1 ∼ Wipe cache partition

You cannot delete wipe cache partition the same way you would application cache as they are different. Cache Partition are temporary files used in application installation; and, thus, do not hold personal data. So this means no data is deleted when you choose wipe cache partition. However, they can sometime make the phone not work properly, so you can wipe them from “Recovery mode”.

2 ∼ Reboot Device

This will Restart your device back out of recovery mode and back  into normal mode.

In Conclusion

One of the reasons I felt I had to write this blog was that I have seen a few ‘Guides to fixing these issues’ that are worrying.  There are a few ‘Fixes’ instructing users to Uninstall their Google Play Store and Play Services ten download a different Version they supply links too. DO NOT DO THIS!!  Uninstalling your playstore should always be a very last resort if you have serious device issues. Also there is guidelines to follow as to which Version of playstore and play services you replace them with which are device specific.  One size does not fix all. If you have any other issues or questions you can feel free to come join us on our support forum and we will be happy to help.  Also make sure to visit http://www.best-kodi-guides.eu/android-apps/ for more guides to your android device.

Kodi Add-ons that have 4K Ultra HD Movie Links

4K Ultra HD Movie Links, Where Can I Find Them This article will provide a list of current Kodi Add-ons that supply links to 4K Ultra HD also known as Ultra High Definition or UHD. Before we get started, it is important to understand what 4K Resolution is and what devices should be used. What is 4K Ultra HD? 4K Ultra-HD is about Four times the resolution of an 1080p (HD) TV. The screen resolution is 3840 x 2160, or 2160p vs what most TV sets still have, which is just 1920 x 1080p. A 4K television displays about 8 million pixels. Without boring you all, here is an excellent article from Wikipedia that breaks down 4K much better than I could. So read at your leisure, it’s not long but well written and can be found  here . Movie Quality keeps getting better. Because 4K is still a relatively new visual medium for movies, you can find a small number of 4K streams available through different Kodi add-ons. The best Kodi add-ons for 4K movies are actually some that you may already have install

H.265 HEVC and H.264, Understanding the Difference

H.265 HEVC and H.264 The Goal of this article is to help you understand some of the new technology that is having a direct affect on Movie Quality and Streaming on your device. One in particular is the new Compression Format called H.265 or HEVC. What the on earth is that you ask ? Here’s some background that will help you understand, without getting to “techie”….. I hope. What is H.265 aka HEVC. HEVC  (High Efficiency Video Coding, sometimes called  H.265 ) is a new video compression format and is the successor of H.264. It was formalized on the 25th of November 2013 and published as  ISO/IEC 23008-2:2013 . An open source HEVC decoder and encoder ( x265 ) has been developed and is widely adopted. High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), also known as H.265, promises twice the compression possible with Blu-ray’s best video compression methods. But how does it work, and is it enough to get us better-looking 4K content? HVEC vs H.264 A technical comparison (with thanks Ana Rodrigues) : Both

Removing Old/ Non-Working Add-ons & Repositories

Removing Old Add-ons/Repositories Removing Add-ons and Repositories that no longer function is a natural progression of our theme directed towards new users to Kodi. As we all know, sometimes an Add-on or a Repository will cease to function for no fault of our own. But what is the best way to remove these? We will provide you the easiest method to remove an individual Add-on as well as the associated Repository. In addition we’ll also show you how to remove any URL Sources in File Manager. Why Removing Add-ons/Repos is Important While it appears the advice concerning repositories is factual and from reliable sources, you may have by mistake installed a Repo/ Add-on that may be malicious or may be using addons that are not from reliable sources. A perfect example is this excellent article concerning Kodil-Exodus-Indigo Blog. As a result, these should be removed as soon as possible. Lets start with a single Add-on. Removing Add-ons First step after opening Kodi is to Click Add-0ns .

Kodi Audio Settings: Understanding the Options Available

Advanced Audio Settings The object of this Blog is to provide as much Information about the Audio Settings in Kodi/SPMC with out making it look like the Tech Specs. of an “Audiophiles” Sound System. I have to admit when I first looked in XBMC/Kodi, these options left me scratching my head. Thinking these are very complicated. Well they still do ! But once the different features and options were explained to me, it became quite easy. Understanding how to utilize these to enhance my use of Kodi/SPMC became a bit clearer. I certainly hope this article will do the same. Not just for those who have just started using Kodi, but for “veterans” as well who wish to know more about these settings. *Hint, if you make a mistake (and you will) when changing any settings, remember….Default is your friend. You can always start over. Need help? click here . The examples shown are Jarvis 16.1. I will also provide a brief description on how to find Audio Settings in Krypton 17.3, but they are 99.9 % th

Deleting Old non-working URL's from File Manager

Deleting URL’s from File Manager We have all used the File Manager in Kodi to install different URL’s for various links to Repositories or Add-ons.  Links become redundant for a number or reasons; however, the most common reason is abandonment by the developer.  A perfect example is the TVA Fusion link, it became invalid and the link will no longer connect. Why remove the url links ? Keeping these URL links installed in File Manager is harmless, but keeping the file manager uncluttered is never a bad habit.  Some of you may have typed the wrong url address by mistake.  Instead of removing it right away, you just re-type the correct url address.  I know how easy that is having done that myself on occasion.  As a result, you have many duplicate sources in your File Manager section. The removal method is exactly the same for Jarvis & Krypton.  Yet, I have combined photo examples for both just so you can follow along.  While I was looking for a good repo to pick I stum
