How to Adjust Video Screen in Kodi Jarvis/Krypton

Adjusting Video Screen in Kodi

Have you ever opened your Kodi and found that the screen is "Skewed" or looks like it's zoomed in and the edges are missing ?
Well here's a fix that everyone will be able to apply to Kodi 16.1, Krypton 17 and all Forks. Understanding where and how to adjust the video screen is one of the easiest fix that anyone can do. But before we begin, it's always a good idea to check your Android device settings. You may have to adjust your settings there as well.
  • Go to Main settings in your Device. (Android Box)

  • Select display settings or Screen resolution. (varies depending on the Android version)

  • Disable auto-detect HDMI.

  • Now set it manually under HDMI output mode settings to 1080p, 50hz or you can set to what suits best according to the capacity of your TV manually by selecting it from the options on it.

How to Adjust/Calibrate

First of all, for the purpose of this article, all work was done on a PC for the screen captures. In addition, Kodi Jarvis 16.1 with no build was used. Instructions to adjust Krypton will be included at the end. Because the method is the same for both versions of Kodi, I'll only show where to find the settings to adjust.

adjust

So lets start by clicking on System in Kodi, then select System again (located at the bottom)
Ensure you are "Expert Level", if not simply click on it until it changes.
Scroll up to Video Output (1.), as shown in above photo and then move over to Video calibration (2.) and click.

Four Click Solution

adjust

In the next screen you see, there will be 4 tasks you need to complete.
Task #1. Move the cursor with a Mouse or use the remote to move to the top left corner. If a Tablet with the "touch" feature is enabled, use your finger to "click" on the indicator.
Task #2. All tho not shown in the above photo, there will be the same indicator there as you see at #1.
Do the same as instructed in Task #1.

[AdSense-A]

adjustTask #3. Move the cursor to the bottom of the screen and a Horizontal line will appear. This will be where the Subtitle text position will appear when enabled. Most prefer to leave that where it is.

adjust

Finally, Task #4.  Move the Cursor to the middle of your screen and a Square will appear. 99% of the time it is already set so there shouldn't be a need to adjust it. Screen Adjust is now completed. To exit, if using a keyboard, click the "esc" key, if using the remote use the "back" key. If you are using a Tablet with touch feature enabled, "slide up" from the bottom and select the "back icon"

Krypton Screen Adjust/Calibration

  4. Scroll down to Video calibration. (Red Arrow #2.)

  5.  Follow the same procedure as described in the Jarvis Version.

IN CONCLUSION

Ares Wizard Install Guide (July 14th)

A lot of testing has been going on behind the scenes to bring you a new, improved  Ares Wizard. New, bigger, faster servers, rewritten code, new build hosts, new zip hosts, its been  complete rebuild for the ground up. Its important to note that the Ares Wizard can run without its servers (they may go down in the future), but it then loses some of its functions, such as Add on & repository installs, and only 200 builds to choose from; it does retain all its maintenance and tweaking functions in this mode, so still very useful.  ——————————————————— This add on is “unofficial” and therefore not supported by Kodi TV or XBMC foundation, please do not ask on their forums for help, goto ares-project.uk for further support. ——————————————————...

FireTV/Stick Easy Kodi Installs

You will no doubt be aware that since the  5.0.5.1_user_537175520 update, Firestarter was disabled (I hope to have a patched version shortly) and Amazon now show Kodi in the recent options (though strangely this worked on my FireTV box but NOT the Firestick – updates to follow. Its also not gone unnoticed that for some “strange” reason you cant click the download options if you browse to the Kodi downloads page – I mean really? There is no doubt the Amazon are engaged in “active disruption” to users trying to load Kodi. This post will show you how to get around this and save links for later use should you need it. What you will need We still do this with ES File Explorer (ESFE), just using a different method, if you already have ESFE installed skip to the “Installing Kodi” section. I stongly recommend you get the FireTV app on your phone to make entering the info easier, The mouse function will also make it easier to navigate in ESFE...

Ares Wizard URL Update 18/04/2016

It has become clear that the 3m+ downloads a month has become an issue on the current Ares Wizard zip host box, very often triggering the IP banning protection, although temporary, it would seem that some are being hit with 12 hr bans as the server thinks its being attacked. A royal pain if you are simply trying to grab the zip file. New Server, Bigger Pipe The Ares team has therefore invested in a new host, with a bigger 1 gbps pipe (previous was 50mbps), this “should” eliminate this problem for the downloads. Famous last words? The new url is  http://www.areswizard.co.uk (note – there is no need to add zip to the end of this – its a direct link) Full information on the Ares Forum The Ares Wizard Overview Just to try and clarify how this utility works, as so many ask if its down when in fact its not – or confusing builds failing to download or install correctly as a problem with the wizard. The Ares Wizard is hosted across three servers , one main a...

Guide to Installing Kodi: Beginner's Edition

Kodi, A Guide for New Users This next article is going to be an all-in-one guide on how to set up Kodi from where to find it to how to install an add-on. This guide will serve to partner with the theme of creating helpful articles for the everyday, new Kodi user. We will focus on keeping the language understandable and hope this article helps teach you something new. By the end of this article we will have answered the what, where, and how to install Kodi, along with a repository, and an add-on. You may or may not be aware; however, the community is ever changing especially in the recent 12 months. More and more developers and groups have been shut down, received cease & desist letters, or have grown frustrated by treatment from other community members.  This has made it tougher to find the reliable all-in-one build as your go-to builder could hang it all up.  So our goal is for this guide to help you sit in the driver seat. The What As we said we are going to tackle a lit...
